VAB has attracted media attention – print, audio and video – because of its emphasis on poor and marginalized communities and quality education for their children. Lately, such attention has intensified as a result of noteworthy accomplishments of VAB students and schools, and also community linkage programs of VAB which draw the involvement of community leaders and local government officials. As part of its quality education drive, VAB holds events intended to incentivize educational accomplishments and to promote excellence of performance by students, such as regional and national competitions in academic and extra-academic fields at the regional and national levels. VAB also holds events for award ceremonies for “best” students and schools. Local, regional and sometimes national media are attracted to these events.
